How To Join

Whether you're new to riding or you've been riding for years, travelling on today’s roads is becoming ever more challenging. All that stands between the motorcyclist and the road surface is his/her protective clothing and their riding skills. There is always something new to learn from our riding experiences, and ESAM’s observed riding techniques aim to produce an alert, ‘thinking rider’, who can absorb the information around them and act on this to produce a safe, smooth and ultimately more enjoyable riding experience.

Joining ESAM and undertaking 1-to-1 observed rides with our IAM qualified Observers will develop your riding skills to IAM Advanced Riding test level and ensure you are better prepared to ride safe, have fun and stay alive.

There are two ways to join IAM/ESAM both of which involve purchasing a Skill for Life package. The cost of the package is currently £149 and includes one year’s membership to the IAM as an Associate Member (until you pass your test, which is when you achieve Full Member status), one year’s membership to ESAM and the fee for the IAM Advanced Test.

If you have already decided that you want to join, or you want to buy/give a 'Skills for Life' gift, you do so via the IAM website using the following link - Join the IAM here.

If you'd like to join in person, you can do so at one of our Open Sundays, just bring your driving license and method of payment to Reid Hall (Boreham Street, Boreham, East Sussex BN27 4SD) on the second Sunday of the month and speak to one of the team.

If you'd like more information, we would love to see you at one of ESAM's Open Sundays, where all are welcome to come along, talk to others, have a coffee and see what you think. You also have the opportunity to go on a free no obligation Assessment Ride with one of our Observers. He/she will follow you on a route around some local roads to see how you ride and then have a chat with you about how the IAM system of riding could help improve your riding skills and enhance your confidence.

The ESAM Open Sundays are for you to see what we are all about. There's no obligation to join until you are ready, however you won't receive full club benefits, including invitations to social events and rideouts, until you are a member.
